My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! My goal is to ride a total of 700 km in the month of August (I am currently riding about 100 km in a month so this is a lofty goal!!)

Why? Because right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. Having spent part of my career in pediatric oncology, I have seen some of the heartbreak and challenges that comes with this diagnosis. Never before have I so badly wanted to work myself out of a job!

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Why support SickKids if I don't even live in Ontario? Because I've also worked on the research side of SickKids hospital and I know for a fact that the research done at this amazing place has an impact on children across Canada and even the world.
