Ben, Hallie-Lynn, Nolan, Nori, Qais, Jasper, Iris & all the kids!
I'm also riding for those of my family who were able to "Ring the Bell" (my siblings, nephew & cousins) & those who weren't able to (my Godfather, uncles, aunt & cousins). 💔
My Story
Six years! SIX YEARS!! Wow! I love riding my bike but I really wish it wasn't to FIGHT kids' cancer! Last year I also began riding for all the parents who have had to endure sleepless nights sitting beside their child's hospital crib or bed. I've been there!
In 1996, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy... or so we thought! Less than 4 months later, I was the mom sitting beside my son's hospital crib, watching him struggle and being unable to do anything to help him. Although my son hasn't had cancer, he was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that caused seizures which eventually made him developmentally delayed. This is why the children & families being cared for by SickKids are special to me.
Thanks to the donations I received last year, I achieved the title of "SUPERHERO". I am NOT a superhero. My donors are the superhero! The SickKids teams are the superhero! The parents & families caring for their sick child & sibling are the superhero! The children undergoing medical tests, physical changes, etc., they are the superhero!
I want to help as much as I can. So, I ride! I ride, because I can!
On August 1st, the "Great Cycle Challenge, Canada" officially begins. My goal is to ride 2024 kms during the month of August!
