Finishing another 365.25 days on August 18th...As I get older, my birthday month becomes a month of gratitude for me. I am blessed to be healthy enough enjoying summer/beach/bike rides with my no longer little miracle (Rumi-5.5). How I enjoy my Rumi's giggles and wish the same for all parents...

Getting older is a blessing denied to many and in some cases even childhood is denied to some :(

A child face should only portray joy and not pain/sufferings. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

Despite our tremendous advancement in science, Cancer is still the leading cause of death worldwide (accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020 based on WHO analysis). And continues to be the largest killer of kids in Canada...27 children are diagnosed every week in Canada... Please for a second close your eyes and imagine those little blessings spending more time in hospital beds than in parks with peers smiling and occupying us with their infinite questions.

As my hero, a Unicef ambassador, once said "As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others" Audrey Hepburn

As a mother to a young child,

as a person who only discovered the beauty children add to the word only a decade ago,

as a human that chose Audrey Hepburn as her role model from a young age,

and as grand daughter who never met her grandmother because she (my grandmother) was taken by cancer leaving her little twin miracles behind

as a human that wishes had a magical power to end sufferings everywhere.

...So there is no surprise that I am taking part this August in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer for another year!

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
