My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

Paul

I received a message from one of the heroic Kids fighting cancer. This I share with all who helped us achieve and surpass our goal of $500. 5 year old Ellie has been fighting leukaemia since January 2021. She is now in the middle of her fifth cycle of treatment. Across Canada riders have clocked over 2,900,000 kms and sponsors have contributed over $8,000,000. We did this in memory of Kirk and for all the brave kids like Ellie. All the Best everyone.🙏❤️

Well the last day of August and I had to go for a ride. I Left from home and put in 16 km. I wanted to match the amazing donation total of $904 but it turns out I went over by one. Well, once again I have to say thank you, thank you, thank you. If it wasn’t for all of you this total would never have been reached. As I said in my previous post, I will continue to ride as long as donations continue to come in. Sick Kids Foundation is keeping the GCC website open in September for anyone who hasn’t reached their goals for donations or mileage. Love you all. We did it.🙏❤️🎉👏👊🍻

Well once again another sponsor has come through for Fight Kids Cancer. Thank you. As a result I had to raise my mileage goal to match donations. I started in the rain and it continued until my return trip which was bright and sunny. My ride was 70 km ride from Orillia to Barrie and back. This time I used the Rail Trail until line 13 and then took Ridge Road to Barrie, a first. I rode my road bike and hit 19.6 km/hr average speed, my fastest speed. Not that fast for a lot of riders but my best effort to date. 10 kms into my ride my right thigh muscle started to tighten and I wasn’t sure I would be able to continue. I stopped and did some stretching, drank more water and had a bite and continued the ride. I keep thinking of those kids, just like Kirk, going through the mental and physical struggles of their disease. You know, how can I stop and not finish. It makes me sad but inspires me to finish my ride, one pedal stroke at a time. I will continue to ride to match all donations, as long as I have to. Thanks again to everyone of you for your encouragement and support. Love you all.🙏❤️

Today I hit the cross country trails in Copeland forest and also hit my mileage goal. It was fun, a lot different terrain than the roads and waterfront trails. For the first time this month I had to walk up a couple hills. Gives me something to work for. Not sure how many more rides I will do but thank you all so much for your support, inspiration and donations. Together we made a fantastic contribution to the Fight Against Kids Cancer. It was an amazing month riding and my legs are going to enjoy a rest 🤪. ❤️🎉👏. Love you all.

Well, 3 weeks down and 1 to go. It’s been 3 amazing weeks thanks to all the sponsors and riders. Almost 2,000,000 kilometres have been pedalled and over $7,000,000 funds have been raised. My sponsors have almost doubled my initial goal of $500 to an amazing $816. Today I rode from Orillia to Barrie and completed 763kms to date. 53 kms to go to reach my target and still a few more days to add to that if there are more donations. We are making a great contribution to the fight against Kids Cancers. So great work to all. Thank you and love to you all.🙏❤️
