I'm Riding For
Josee and Marc
Most unfortunately I have to add my wife, Josee's, name to this. I now ride for her and my dear friend Marc. Josee was diagnosed in September 2024 with the most aggressive breast cancer, triple negative. She has been battling the disease ever since, principally with chemotherapy. Any prayers or good vibes you can send our way will be greatly appreciated. My best friend, Marc Rouleau, succumbed to cancer April 5, 2020. I don't have enough space here to tell you what a great person he was. Just an outstanding father, military leader, husband, professional. I'll continue to ride in Marc's memory this year. Neither was afflicted with a childhood cancer. I will continue to ride in support of the fight against childhood cancer. I think that's ok as what ever we can do to fight childhood cancer will help in the general fight against cancer. When you and I get a chance to speak please ask me about Marc and how Josee is doing.
My Story
This August, I’m cycling 1,500 km in the SickKids Hospital Great Cycle Challenge to fight childhood cancer — the #1 disease killing Canadian kids. Children should be living life, not fighting for it.
I ride to raise funds for SickKids Foundation, helping provide life-saving care, develop treatments, and search for a cure.
This year, the fight is deeply personal.
Josée — my love and greatest supporter — was diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer last September. She’s been undergoing intensive chemotherapy ever since but unfortunately her cancer has not responded to any of the chemotherapies she has tried, but we are keeping hope. Your prayers, good vibes, and support mean the world to us.
Despite everything, I’m still riding. This will be my 15th straight year cycling to raise funds to fight childhood cancers, joined again by my son Nathan. You may have noticed that I’ve reduced my mileage goal this year to 1,500 km. Even that seems like a lot and will depend on how Josée is doing. Our longest ride will be 500km from Toronto to Ottawa via Kingston over two days which means an ambitious 300km on day 1! Please wish us good fortune and favourable winds!
Please consider donating to support these brave kids and their families.
Thank you.
