A Huge Thank You! to The Garron Family

We were impressed with the motivation and personal contact along with the website and mobile app, it was great! Then halfway though Aug the email comes telling us about a Matched Donation Day! Well that was the final piece that was missing. We used to support many other charities but they were Top Heavy netting only 57% to 69% of the Monies Raised going to the people that need it most. And without a Double Donation Day a number of our Team members have also mentioned, they would support other Cancer related Charities that do have a Double Donation Days. And there are plenty that do. So it is because of The Garron Family that our little Team The East Coast Cruisers has raised $45,990.98 and with this years total with 1 week to go added in of $30,177.00 = Totaling $76,197.98 Because of our wonderful & amazing Teammates countless hours of hard work and The Garron Families kindness and generosity! I am so thankful we are able to help in some small way to assist those kids dealing with this horrible disease. A Huge Thank You from us to you, The Garron family! What amazing weather we got, Incredible and so appreciated!

The views on this Trail are second to none!

Inverness Beach is Crazy Beautiful! We love it here!

Trail is the best maintained out of all the Trails we travel in PEI, NB and NS.

Day 7 GCC R&C- Port Hastings to Port hood 51.8kms

Glad we postponed this trip as the weather is Awesome!

Knocked off another 51.8 kms today for our Team!

And the Beach is Beautiful!

Food is Excellent!

Peace & Quiet is Welcomed!

Day 6 GCC- R&C Update- No Rails To Trails today, but did Spin a bit.

Char and I got about 35 kms each on our Spin bike.

Got all the Bikes loaded up and headed to Cape Breton and the Celtic Trail for 3 days of Riding tomorrow. Hoping the weather Holds.

You guys are doing great! 27% of our Km.s done in just 6 days!

If we can maintain this pace, we will reach our goal of 5000 kms!

Day 5 - Celtic Trail Run- Rained out/ Postponed to Wed/Thurs/Fri this week.

Even though we got rained out for our ride, we did pick up a new Teammate!

And what a cool Bike, we never saw anything quite like it!

Day #4 Sunday- Rest Day - R&C

Caught up on some emails and house chores and relaxed and watched a couple Movies, just resting our old Bones! Because if you don't, things start falling off.....

Truro, Cobequid Trail 57kms each.

Changed our plans to do Hubbard's to Lunenburg today due to rain forecasted yesterday.....

So we tried an new Rails to Trails area in Truro. The Cobequid Trails.

We knocked off another 57kms each to help the team.

And grabbed some Murphy's Fish & Chips for our bellies! Yum, Yum!

40 Teammates =

New GOALS for Fundraising & Kms.!

So, when Charmaine and I first put up our Teams Targets with all of 5 Teammates, then 10 teammates signed up, these numbers were, good Goals. But now with an Awesome 40 EAST COAST CRUISERS Teammates all working towards a common Goal, we have to adjust out Target Goals accordingly.

First of all, The Teams $5,000.00 Target, already at 61% Achieved on Day 1, is Being DOUBLED to a more appropriate Team Goal of $10,000.00, Now WOW!

Lets Do This!

AND.......

So, only halfway through Day#1 and we are already at 18% complete with only 5 Teammates Logging their rides into the app today! So, 35 Teammates with Zero kms and we are already almost a quarter of the way done....... Needs adjusting..

Very Early Ride, but got in 57.24 kms before the Rain hit!

Got up at 5:30am, got the bike ready, and as soon as we could see, off we went to hit the Trails! We each Knocked off 57.24kms before the Rain!

It was like Old Home Week, on the Trails all the people stopped us and chatting, we may have a couple more Teammates out of it! Fingers crossed.

Hey, We snuck in a very early morning ride/First & Second Lake and New Lakeview Trail!

We were up at 5:30am, prepped the bikes and as soon as we could see, hit the trails!

And while Knocking off 57.24kms each, we ran into our very own Teammate of 3 years now Mary Belle and here 2 Dogs on First Lake Trail!

Glad we missed the Rain!

PLEASE Note; I have received several inquiries about our Team Ride Sat Aug 10th. And am very Pleased to say we have an EAST COAST CRUISERS TEAMMATE coming all the way from St. John NB to Participate in the group ride, Then I got a call from another group of 4 TEAMMATES joining us from Dartmouth, then just last night another group of 4 Teammates from Hampton NB is coming down to join in our Team Ride! And those are just the ones that called me, and does not include any others who got the emails and are just going to show up that day! So we are at 12 Riders I know of right now, for our Team ride Aug 10th. Details Below!

When: 10am Departure time from the CFB Shearwater Parking lot/ Shearwater Flyers Trail.

What: Team Ride

Where; from Up To Shearwater Flyers Trail Head Parking lot(Swordfish Dr.) at CFB Shearwater out to Lawrence Town Beach & back(40kms).

PLEASE NOTE; There is many roads that cross the Rails To Trails And parking lots that you can launch your bike from giving you a choice of a full 40km return trip or as little as a 3km return trip!

You pick what you can do, or want to do!

Join In Spots with less to Pedal are-

Hines rd.,

Caldwell rd.,

Bisset Rd.(Salt Marsh Trail),

Lawrence Town Rd West,

Conrad Rd.,

Lawrence Town Rd. Again, This is the shortest ride with only 3km return trip.

Our group leaving at 10am should get to Lawrence town Beach by 11:30am to 12 noon Ish. Depends on how many we have and pick up along the way? We are in No Rush, it's an Easy Breezy Fun Run, No Pressure, just fun!

I am aware cyclist love to settle in, and get in there groove and find their pace and keep moving along at a good clip,

BUT today is Not That Day. This is Riding with The Team, Supporting our Teammates whom are not all avid cyclist, by staying with them, Showing our GCC Jerseys we all worked so hard to earn, Creating conversation and increasing awareness of what we are all doing TOGETHER and even receive Donations from those who want to help we meet up with that day! AWESOME TEAM WORK!

(We can all go back to clipping along at 20 to 25kms/hr., in the zone for every other ride in Aug, Lol) This one we stick together.

This is a Loosey Goosey, Meet & Greet, Pics & Fries when we make it out to Lawrence town beach, enjoy our break and when done gabbing & eating and laughing and taking pics, We will Start on our way back! Too Fun!

So, just to put this in perspective, I also emailed last year about the same Double Donation Day/Kick Cancers Butt Day, and received a similar response, only to have an email notice about 2 weeks later, after the month of Aug started, that yes, there was indeed a "Kick Cancers Butt Day for 2023". So now you know the skinny on the "Kick Cancers Butt Day" sponsorship.

In light of this, I know they want Donations to come in organically all the time, Unmatched. But I hold ALL of mine, and do not even Text, Facebook or email any potential Supporters until Aug 9th,10th,11th KICK CANCERS BUTT DAY. To Maximize our Teams Donations!

Of course this is not always possible and a few get sent in sporadically as our friends and family hear what we are doing. And that's Great Too!

As the emails states we will all be emailed if and when it happens!

TEAM RIDE

Sat Aug 10th. at Shearwater flyers Trail head, CFB Shearwater for a 10am START,

I will be there by 9am unloading and setting up for the Ride.

Again you can pick up the Rails to Trails at a dozen road crossings leading out to Lawrence town Beach, and therefore pick as long or short a ride you can handle/prefer from 38 kms return to 3 kms return. It's so easy!

If we leave at 10am we will be at Lawrencetown Beach by 11:30am to 12pm.

Bigger groups tend to be only as fast as the slowest rider.

And with all the Hey Nice to Meet You's! etc. expect approx 12 noon arrival at Lawrencetown Beach ish?

Again no schedule, just Loosey Goosey, Fun Run, Meet & Greet, Pics & Fries when we all arrive at Lawrencetown Beach!
