Erika

Erika is my 22 year old daughter who was diagnosed with cancer in November 2015. We're celebrating that she's been "off treatment" since November 2016. She is an amazing, strong young lady who never lost the beautiful smile on her face throughout all her treatments. She went through 10 rounds of chemo, two stem cell transplants, two major surgeries and a few smaller ones. After all the tough times and health challenges, she has now completed her studies at Trinity Western University and graduated with her Bachelor of Science, RN. On the day of her nursing pinning ceremony, she was offered a new grad position at Surrey Memorial Hospital in pediatrics. She took May to study for her big NCLEX nursing registration exam which she passed and is now on her way to working in her chosen career. Her experiences as a teen had much to contribute to her decision to enter nursing school. Seeing her thrive and living life as she should makes me feel like the luckiest Mom alive. I will be riding for her and all the other kids affected by cancer because we speak from experience - it is not something any child or teen should have to deal with.
