I'm Riding For
My son and my husband, both have Cancer
EVERY CHILD DESERVES A NORMAL CHILDHOOD. Mason is the son of a family friend and this brave little boy has been battling cancer since his birth. He has leukemia and shortly after birth lost the sight in one eye. He must travel back and forth between Edmonton and Toronto for treatments on a regular basis. Please help me support this brave little warrior!
My Story
This year, 2024, will be the fifth year I have participated. To date, I've ridden 1959 km and raised $6,276.00, and I'm 76 years old.
This year, I am riding for my husband and now our son - both who are fighting cancer.
Cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. Unfortunately, this year I will have less than two weeks to ride and fundraise so have had to lower my goals. I'll be out there doing my best.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am doing what I can to help raise funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

I dedicate my ride this year to some very special people: little Mason, Trevor Dennis, the son of my sis, who lost his life last summer and of course, my son and my husband.

My Challenge

Riding in Kelowna is difficult each year as we fight smoke and/or high temperatures and heat domes.
16 Jul 2024But, Cancer hit our family once again when just recently our son was diagnosed with this horrible disease.
He recently underwent surgery and is on his way, hopefully, to a full recovery.
The shock of having your own child diagnosed is horrific. It shakes your world in every way.
There are no words to truly express what the family, and especially the parents of a child, deal with when one hears those words "the results were positive" - that doesn't mean positive in a good way, but positive that you are critically ill.
To all the other parents who are dealing with this disease, we send you hugs and love, and to those who donate, THANK YOU!!!!!
