Rebecca Schofield (#beccatoldmeto)

On February 17th 2018 a young girl by the name of Rebecca Schofield ended her battle with brain cancer at the young age of 18 years old. She has left an amazing legacy behind her that has forever inspired me to spread more joy in as many ways I can. I continue this year with The Great Cycle Challenge and will be dedicating my participation in honour of the Rebecca Schofield movement of #beccatoldmeto and encouraging others to continue spreading acts of kindness. Each and every kilometre I ride this year is for the children living with and who have lost their lives to cancer. The more awareness we raise the closer we will be to a life without the flight.

While in Ottawa, ON for a work layover I went on a fun little one wheeled adventure with a two wheeled friend of mine. We rode across to Gatineau, QC where this EPIC video was captured while my GoPro was attached to the handlebars of my two wheeled friends bike. What happened in this video is that I attempted to pass in front of the bike while riding a paved trail however there was some trees I had to duck to go under and while moving at a fairly quick speed for a unicycle my balance was thrown off due to the shifting of my body forward and as such I lost my footing and was thrown forward off my wheel taking quite the impact into the path and subsequently into the grassy area with shrubs. I bounced right back up and walked it off with only a minor scrape on my right knee. I was wearing my superhero jersey at the time and this definitely felt like a superhero moment as I flew through the air!

A new perspective! With my newly acquired handlebar GoPro mount I can leave my two wheeled friends in charge of filming at times which gives me the opportunity to showcase a bit more of my unicycling abilities with me in full view. This clip was a very UNIque opportunity while I was riding with two of my one wheeled friends as we completed a ride around Ottawa following the beautiful paths that led us safely around our nations capital. Heres to many more fun videos from this new perspective!

Thank to another two wheeled friend of mine for capturing this video of me and my cuckoo friend Yazz as we rolled along the Centennial Bikeway in Burlington, ON. Unlike in my video montages where I have increased the speed of the clips to fit more in, this video showcases my accurate speed on my unicycle as I pedal my legs to my hearts content...

My two wheeled friend Lezli on her new bike as we rolled through Tommy Thompson Park with the city of Toronto in the distance, this fun little video clip finishes with my other two wheeled from Yazz having the best time ever as always. I love the shadow shots I get when the sun is in just the right place to capture these creative moments...

A short clip from the path less travelled as we explored the trails along the Lower Don River Trail near E.T. Seton Park. My two wheeled friend Yazz was in charge of the GoPro at this time and it was mounted to her handlebars, all she had to do was stay close to catch me going over the log, it turned out alright in the end despite her hesitation, haha. Thanks for capturing this shot Yazz!

After just shy of 10km on her new bike, Lezli conquered this hill. The first hill of the season and something that was not possible with her old bike even at the end of the season last year. Here's to many more rides together and conquering those climbs!

How do you start your Sunday morning? Here I am as I departed from home at 6:07am for a morning ride with banana in hand as I started my Strava recording while already on the move. I was wearing my super hero jersey for this adventure.

Riding along Lakeshore Boulevard West in a nicely protected cycling lane with some beautifully painted barriers. The time is 7:36am on a Saturday and the weather is a bit overcast/wet conditions, there is however hardly anyone out on the roads which made for a smooth morning ride.
