Someone dear to my heart was taken away by cancer, so quickly that I did not have a chance to properly say goodbye.

As a scientist, my part in fighting cancer probably should be in the lab. I am setting out to ride in this challenge to face my own grief, process my personal pain and to internalize how brutal the effects cancer brings.

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge also to fight for future generations.

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising awareness through my challenge to help these kids and I am supporting SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
