It has been a rough few years. Cancer is a horrible disease, one that has impacted mine, and countless other's, families. This year I am riding for hope and spirit as displayed by amazing young man, Sameer.

My Story

14 Aug 2024

This August, for the fifth year, the two Steves are riding in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight cancer! For myself and my family, this past couple of years has been rough due to Cancer. This year, my ride is in reflection of the hope and spirit that these kids represent.

This year I am riding again for the inspiration of an amazing young man.

Sameer is 8 years old. Last year he was fighting hard against AML Leukemia. Through the various treatments he is now in maintenance and was thrilled to return to school. His mom, a friend and associate, allowed me the honour of riding for him and his friends again. This year, through this young man, I am riding in awe of his hope and spirit

On behalf of Sameer and all kids, who should never have to deal with this disease when they should be focused on playing in the sun, thank you.

Cancer is an insidious disease. We all know someone who has battled it. Over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. In total, over 200,000 people are diagnosed and almost 100,000 die, in Canada, every year.
