I'm Riding For

Jim

Jim

my major motivation for riding and trying to push my limits is for my Grandfather, he is currently battling stage 4 cancer that is spread to a lot of vital components in his body. When my grandfather found out that he had cancer again let alone stage 4, he asked how could he fight it, he didn’t back down regardless of how bad things are looking or how sick he was going to feel. My Grandfather now is currently doing an aggressive Chemotherapy that has made him very sick and very tired. My grandfather has shown me time and time again it doesn’t matter how bad things are or how much you hurt, if you have an ounce of will power, a gram left of energy you keep going and you keep fighting for what you want, need and believe in. Whether it is to see another day of smiles, another day of sunsets, another day of sadness or another day of happiness, you keep going. This is my major motivation to fight threw the pain when I’m sore and don’t think i can go another kilometre, to fight threw when I’m tired and my body can’t move, to fight threw my anxiety and depression on hard days. The Months Of July when i will be training to be able to bike 20km a day for the month of August

My Story

30 Jun 2024

Hello my name is Joshua and I'm a 27 year old who is currently trying to push my limits with a recent diagnosis of narcolepsy. My goal is to be able to bike 20km a day in the month of August.

As a lot of my Family, Friends and colleagues know. I have a medically fragile brother who for a majority of his young life was either in C.H.E.O hospital, Sick Kids or in the states for surgery’s, fighting illnesses and death. Through my younger years some of my fondest memories where at the Ronald Mcdonald house being with my parents and surrounded by the multitude of family who had to deal with the same issues we faced, or so i thought. I made a lot of friends threw out the years at the RMDH friends with people my own age kids who where older then me it was almost like a 24/7 sleep over with new kids coming every few weeks or every time you would visit, always lots of smiles and kindness. What i would understand later in life as i got older and my parents were able to explain things better is a lot of those friends i had there never got to make it home, never got to go on that family trip, graduate college or start a family, get to live a long life. Cancer comes it all forms but Cancer never defined any of the children at RMDH, even though they where going threw the biggest battle of there lives they never showed it. They only showed me there smiles and enjoyment of the life they were living. So in memory of all the wonderful friends i got to make along the way and the best of memories i got to have, i will be riding to support Children who are currently going through this same fight my child hood friends were going threw in hopes that one day there will be a cure For cancer and so Family’s one day no longer have to use RMDH to be close with there children who are fighting against cancer.

The Months Of July when i will be training to be able to bike 12km a day for 30day my motivation is My grandfather, My motivation when this event starts August first will be my Grandfather. If he can fight through one of the hardest and most painful thing a human can deal with, Then i can bike every day for 30 days rain or shine. I love you Grandpa and you are one of my greatest influences and one of my biggest motivations for this event.

  • About Me
    30 Jun 2024

Hello everyone. My name is Josh I am 27 years old and recently been diagnosed with Narcolepsy. Up until now it has been extremely hard to stay active on a daily basis. As i started my fitness’s and health journey I’ve experienced extraordinary changes in my physical health along with my mental state and health. I use to bike all the time as a kid and teen and as things started getting worse with This auto-immune disorder (that i didn’t know i had) my brain and body started slowing down i got more sluggish, exhausted threw the days and wide awake during the night to the point where i could not function or enjoy life properly. Skipping 10 years to current day and having the proper diagnosis and treatment in place i am more active and alert then i ever have been in my whole life. With your pledges/ Sponsorships I now have the goal to ride 300km in the Month of August to fight cancer.
