This August, I am taking part in my 9th Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? My cousin lost her battle with cancer at the age of 4 in 1971, 8 years before I was born. Sadly, I did not have the chance to meet her. Right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. Now that I am a survivor myself, having experienced just some of what these little ones deal with in terms of being tested, diagnosed, and treated for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the fall of 2021, I am motivated more than ever to help bring an end to this awful disease.

During my career as a teacher, I have not only met survivors, I have met kids (including a current student) dealing with a family member battling the disease, and those who have lost the battle. This is just another way I can show my support to all these amazing kids.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
