Sandy was an avid global cyclist & although he survived tongue cancer, the aggressive treatment likely contributed to his early demise, almost a decade ago, at age 58 . . .
My Story
For the 8th consecutive year, I am participating in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! I am riding again with Team Sandy’s Sidekicks, in memory of our good friend Sandy Phillips, who had tongue cancer as an adult.
I have updated my photo & donated a dollar for every lap around the sun that I have done! Last fall, I upgraded my mode of transportation to a peddle-assist electric bike, so have resumed my former km goal of 1000. I have matched the $ goal to $1000, but keep in mind, that $2500 would put me into the Hero level.
So, I am raising funds through my challenge, to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation, to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
