My Story

2026 marks my eleventh year participating in the Great Cycle Challenge Canada in which riders and donors work together to raise funds to defeat kids' cancers. Several years ago I was honoured to start participating as a GCC champion, and three years ago was proud to achieve GCC All-Star status for raising $15,000 + with friends and family also committed to this cause, many of whom have joined our virtual team — #PedalPack —riding and donating to this cause.

Why do I ride? Why does Team Pedal Pack ride?

Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

My first ride — and all rides — were inspired by Audrey, the granddaughter of a dear friend, who was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). Her diagnosis and treatment took a huge toll on this girl, her family and all those love her. I learned just how many medical professionals, resources and treatments are needed to support the journey of just one child. Audrey was one of those 1700 kids diagnosed each year and she is still with us, living a good life, and supported by a dedicated team.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds to help these kids and to support the SickKids Foundation in their efforts to develop treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.

This year, I look forward to once again biking as part of #TeamPedalPack, and joining other committed riders in leading the charge in our local communities across Canada as we unite together to fight kids' cancers!
