For the 6th year, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge this August to raise funds to improve treatment for kids' cancer. Childhood should be a happy, carefree time for children and their families.

But life doesn’t always play fair.

According to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, cancer is the leading cause of death from disease in children and adolescents in Canada. Approximately 10,000 children live with cancer in this country and 1,500 more are diagnosed every year

The stories of children and their families in my community who have made their way bravely through difficult treatments continue to inspire me. I ride so all their journeys to wellness will be better supported.

More applied research in Canada will improve access to the latest scientific advances, diagnostic tools, therapies and supportive care for all kids dealing with cancer.
