My grandmother Roberta was an incredible woman who unfortunately lost her battle while I was still at university. I never got to properly say good-bye, but carry my love for her in my heart every day. My cousin Zach and I shared a love for video games, but also the touch of cancer's cruel sting. The fondest memory I have with him is playing a Metroid game on his GameCube in his hospital room. Every time I wear my Metroid socks I think of him.

This August I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now over 1400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. It's the biggest kid killer disease in Canada… yet somehow in 1993 my life was saved from this dreadful plague.

Whenever I hear that another child is helpless at the clutches of cancer it breaks my heart. They should be living a great life the way kids are meant to not fighting for the right to have a life at all.

So I am raising funds through this cycling challenge to help these hurting youngsters and supporting SickKids Foundation so they can continue their noble work in developing treatments + finding a cure for childhood cancer.
