I'm Riding For
Lucia Saladino
Riding my bike is an activity that I do to keep healthy and fit but to do it for a purpose is emotionally fulfilling as well as motivational. My mom and best friend lost too early. This year, I ride in memory of her. I think about her every day and this is my way of trying help others save lives.
My Story
This Summer, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight cancer! (especially kids - who have their entire lives ahead of them)
Why? Because right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
On a personal level, I lost my mom 20 years ago she succomed to Ovarian Cancer at the a not so ripe age of 57 from Ovarian Cancer. Not a day goes by that I dont think about her. This disease, ovarian cancer was diagnosed late as is often the case. Riding my bike is an activity that I do to keep healthy and fit but to do it for a purpose is emotionally fulfilling as well as motivational. My mom and best friend lost too early. This year, I ride in memory of her. I think about her every day and this is my way of trying help others save lives and help family and friends keep special people here with us longer. My hope is that we continue to research and develop better treatment and improved diagnoses. It is also my hope that I get to my end distance and fundraising goals this summer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. (and funding for Cancer research in general)
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.
