This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight KIDS' CANCER in honour of 13 year old Charlotte Piccolo, who was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Mom’s update -

“Our cancer journey began on June 25th, 2021, on Charlotte’s last day of grade five, and it was nothing short of a horror story. It feels like yesterday and forever ago at the same time. It is hard to imagine that it has been three years already and that thoughts of this day can still leave us breathless and feeling gutted.

We spent the first nine months receiving frontline treatment in London Ontario and now 3 years later she has finally completed active treatment. Although there is no more chemotherapy for Charlotte, she continues to be monitored monthly by the oncology team to ensure the cancer does not return and that her body remains healthy after years of intense therapy.

As Charlotte rallied through treatment and the years passed by, we remember feeling overwhelmingly sad that she may not make it to her grade 8 graduation. The reality is that tomorrow is not promised to any of us; but we are pleased to share that Charlotte graduated from grade 8 this year and for some added sweetness (the cherry on top), she was awarded valedictorian of her graduating class. She is looking forward to a summer spent socializing with her friends and preparing for her first year of high school.

We are eternally grateful to charities like the ‘Great Cycle Challenge’. The money raised helps fund the research that gives kids like Charlotte a chance at life again, literally. Please support this great cause because kids should truly be living life, not fighting for it!”
