This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer for the third year!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

My son Liam has lived through this. He was diagnosed when he was 6 and went through almost 10 years of treatments. While he has been cancer free for over 4 years, the impact on him and the family has been enormous.

Childhood cancer research is underfunded compared with adult cancers yet kids have the most to gain from effective treatments with minimized side effects. SickKids Foundation does invaluable work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer. I’ve seen this in action! The progress has been remarkable in the last ten years and needs to continue.
