On March 6, 2006, our lives changed forever.

Our daughter, Olivia, was just two years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Within hours, we were transported by air ambuance to BC Children's Hospital, where our journey with childhood cancer began.

For just under a year, Ronald McDonald House became our home. It was there that we found comfort, support, and a community of families who truly understood what we were going through. We celebrated victories together, cried together, and formed friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Thankfully, Olivia was able to continue her treatment back home in the Okanagan and is now a healthy, thriving young woman. We know how incredibly fortunate we are.

But not every family we met got to bring their child home.

There are children whose smiles, courage, and strength I will never forget. This ride is for them, too. It's for the parents who continue to carry their children in their hearts every single day.

This August, I'll be participating in the Great Cycle Challenge on a spin bike. Each 45-minute class counts as 22.5 km, and my goal is to complete between one and three classes each day—however many my legs will allow me!

I'm riding for Olivia. I'm riding for our Ronald McDonald House family. I'm riding to honour the children we lost, to support the families who are living this journey today, and to help fund the research that gives more children the chance to grow up.
