My friends JA, DS, DM and SP. My Sis, Grandma Brown, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Countless Friends.
As most of us, I have had many friends and family who have battled Cancer. Some have won the battle and some have lost while others are right in the midst of it!! I ride in all of their honours and hope and pray that one day this disease will be a distant memory!!
My Story
This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Day #5 - Back to the Grids!!
25 Aug 2024Up early before the heat and dinner my cycling jersey from last year’s ride!!
Me and the dogs met 2 vehicles. It is a learning challenge for them and a teaching experience for me as well!! They need to learn to get off of the road for traffic better!! I was so spoiled with our other dogs in this regard…..I guess I will just have to work a bit harder!!

Day #4 - Rockin instead of Ridin’!!
25 Aug 2024Rock the River weekend. I walked and danced a total of 2.5kms Friday, 5kms Saturday and 10kms on Sunday. Was going to rent a motor scooter, but I felt that was not as close to cycling as walking and dancing so I logged 1/2 the distance (8.75kms) toward my goal.
I know that it was pure enjoyment, but who says that this challenge has to be painful!!

7 Aug 2024In Osler the last few days so didn’t have my bike…..decided this morning that I needed to borrow one and had a great companion join me!! Thanks Luca!!
The tracker on the Challenge App only clocked me at 1.67 kms…..and we had gone all the way around Osler…so I was sure it was wrong.
Les pulled up a manual tracker on his phone and sure enough….we had ridden 4.4 kms!!!

3 Aug 2024Rough ride today!!!
On my 1st ride I had to stay in the middle of the grid because of the washboard….today, the washboard went right across!!!
I already sleep with the RM Councillor (my loving Husband), so I may have to find another way to get the road graded!! Hehe!
But, I persevered and got my 3k in!!
Tried to ride on the very edge, but it’s loose sand and tough peddling!!
Oh well, it’s for the kids!!!
Here I am - still smiling near the 2.5k mark.

Day #1
1 Aug 2024🚲🚲🚲
Got my ride in just after 9am when it was still only 20°.
Figured there would be no way that I could survive creating a sweat at the 27° that is forecasted!!
Our 2 dogs, Siyah and Perogie joined me and it was impressive that they actually listened (for the most part when we met 3 vehicles (2 and 1 twice).
Had a short visit with the neighbour (she was in 1 of the trucks) and enjoyed the pretty Ditch Flowers!!
I want to add some pics here, but not sure how to do that….
Oh! There we go, but only 1!!
Looking forward to tomorrow’s ride…..I feel I have to make up some kms for last year!! 🚲🚲🚲
