My Story
My riding for this year’s Challenge is over, but it's been decided to leave our donation pages open until the end of October, so if you have not donated yet I hope you will. My revised distance goal of 768 kms was met after my 27th ride, but I didn't put my riding goal up, I just kept riding, and by my 31st day I reached 1,010 km! That’s 2 more than I rode in 2019, my first year doing this challenge, back then I was trying to match my fundraising to my riding, so $1 for every kilometre I rode, I never made it, and even on my 2024 ride I never achieved that goal. This year I made my revised fundraising goal of $768 after my last ride, and again I didn’t raise my goal but in the back of my mind I kept hoping I’d meet that unannounced goal of $1 for every kilometre. Okay, yes I did hint at it… maybe more than once, but I didn’t make it official. Then 6 days later, it happened, the last donation took me over the top and I reached $1,018! 11 days later and it’s still at $1,018 but as I said there are 7 days left. I have no goal at this point, I’d just like to push it higher so I have something to reach for next year when I will do this challenge again! I hope you will help me out and set a new goal for my 2026 ride. I love cycling and I love that I can use it to raise funds to help children in their fight against cancer, the largest killer of children from disease in Canada. If you know me, you know I prefer to participate in fundraisers related to kids. My profile shows a 5 year legacy, but it's really only 2, this year is my 3rd time doing this ride and so far I’ve raised $2,720 for SickKids Foundation.
A big thank you to those who rooted for me, encouraged me, supported me, met up with me during a ride... it all helped me to get out every day and do it! And thank you to those who have donated to the cause, it helps kids fight much more than anything I’ve ever had to deal with, and as you’ve heard numerous times here, “kids should be living life, not fighting for it”.
