My Story

It's the 3rd week of August, the half way point! As of August 15th I've ridden 561 kms and we’ve raised $962! I started last week off with two of my longest rides so far this year, both just over 50 kms! Yesterday I felt I wanted to do better, so I decided to ride the longest ride I did from last year, but try to push it even further. I rode to Petrie Island out in the east end of Ottawa, an 88 km return ride. By the time I was close to home, I was only slightly over that, but my legs were aching, and the worst was my neck but I had to push further, so I did… I added a ride to Bruce Pit and back… when I ended my ride I had clocked 100.9 kms! This was the best ride I’ve done since my 1st concussion back in 2019! But my personal best of 122 kms still stands from that ride, not sure I’ll ever better that! But never say never, right!

As I enter my third week my goals are the same, to surpass last year's goals of 1,010 kms and $1,054! I’m incredibly happy with all of the help to reach my fundraising goal, coincidentally, after riding 100 kms, all I need is another $100 to reach my goal.

I love cycling and I love that I can use it to help children in their fight against cancer, the largest killer of children from disease in Canada. If you know me, you know I prefer to participate in fundraisers that help kids. My profile shows a 6 year legacy, but this year will only be my 4th completing this challenge, my first year in 2019 I rode 1,008 km and raised $935, but my ride was cut short due to an unrelated concussion, another concussion and four lost years and I finally got back to riding in 2024 and again in 2025! I hope this year will be the BEST!

Thank you to my supporters last year, who shared my posts on Facebook, encouraged me to get out on my bike, and met up with me during a ride… it all helped me to get out every day! Thank you to those who have donated in the past and have already stepped up to donate this year - you’re the champs of this challenge!
