My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to help fight kids' cancer and especially doing this ride for Iris!

In August 2022, Iris began vomiting, had a fever and was showing gastrointestinal disease symptoms.

Her mom took her to hospital, expecting a quick visit. But instead, her parents were given the heart-breaking news...

Iris was diagnosed with refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

The following months of treatment were a whirlwind, full of twists and turns and many immensely hard moments.

The initial induction chemotherapy caused Iris's immune system to become severely compromised, which lead to her contracting multiple infections; COVID-19, norovirus, salmonella, and then Rhinovirus.

As a result, she started a new treatment plan, but it failed to help this brave little girl.

Iris then started CAR-T treatment in December 2022, and thankfully, she was declared to be in remission just over a month later.

She then underwent a bone marrow transplant in March 2023, with her beloved dad as the donor.

Now, Iris has check-ups everv 4-6 weeks and continues to receive support for her mobility, dietary and developmental needs.
