This will be my sixth year taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge. Being in this challenge you are made aware of many personal stories of children and families affected by cancer. It is amazing how resilient and brave these kids are.

It is truly inspiring. I wish I could do something to help, so this is my very, very small way of doing that. If it helped one kid for one second, it would be more than worth it.

Also this year we had a close connection without childhood cancer as a member of our Hockey family, (my daughters teammate's brother) was diagnosed with cancer. His family's response and journey has been amazing. He has been incredibly inspiring.

This is my message from year one:

Cancer is like a monster that hides in a closet and comes out to torture people and steal hopes, dreams, and lives.

Although usually we tell kids there is no such thing as monsters, for many kids, this cancer monster is all too real.

I want to do something to help these kids kick this cancer monster's butt. please help with a donation if you can!

Kids should be able to grow up safe and carefree and enjoy wonderful things like riding their bikes with their friends.

So i am going to take part in this Great Cycle Challenge and hope my small contribution can help Sick Kids Foundation get these kids back on their bikes where they belong.
