A super friend, Dolores Wilmshurst

Dolores lost her battle with cancer this past April at age 82. She got me involved with GCC 5 years ago. She had cycled up to last September , what a friend and mentor for the past 46 years. Check my story out. Cancer knows no age, and when it hits, it's one of your biggest battles. That is why I am doing this. The kids shouldn't have to suffer. Every year there seems to be more findings through research that has some positive results. One can't give up. Both giving of yourself, raising funds for research, treatments and providing financial support for those in need, along with much prayer is powerful and through these trials, it is of comfort, motivating and hope for a future. A big thank you and virtual hugs for stepping up to the plate and supporting me on the Great Cycle Challenge. Raise a tourch for Dolores. She survived over twenty years with breast cancer.
My Story
Throughout this month, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! Peddling in the heat and humidity, climbing the hills and just getting up and going is motivated by the reason behind this.
I will be carrying a torch for a very dear friend, who was the one who got me involved with the GCC 5 years ago. Dolores Wilmshurst, who I have known for over 46 years. She was a true friend and mentor. She knew how to give back to the community, a retired Emerge nurse, instructor, lover of the outdoors, we taught public school age students about the great outdoors, Also, involved with provincial outdoor education program, NSOLD - Outdoor Leadership. So much more, traveled the world, volunteered for Habitat Humanity and Good Smaritian Purse at 80, cutting trees in PEI after a horrific storm. was her last big volunteer project. She survied breast cancer for over 20 yrs. Here's to u Dee.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. I have had family members (Mom Dad,oldest brother) and now myself, I had stage 1 cancer, endometriosis, had a full hysterectomy, it was found early and am clear to date. 3 years later. It is even more dear to me to ride this cycle challenge to support the children fighting this terrible disease so they can have a future.
Support me on this ride, you are helping many others needing the medical and emotional help.
You are super heros by doing this.
