From cottage in Darnley to Twin Shores Campground
My ride on on August 14th reminded me of a children's book my three sons enjoyed, entitled "Fortunately" by Remy Charlip (see clip below of the book being read). Here is my version of the story...
Fortunately...It was my birthday and I was super excited to go for a bike ride on the Confederation Trail to celebrate!
Unfortunately...I found out my bike had a flat tire.
Fortunately....my husband said he had another bike I could ride!
Unfortunately....we got caught is a BIG storm with heavy rain, thunder, lightening and even large HAIL stones!
Fortunately...Brian kept me entertained and smiling while we rode singing "Riders on the Storm" by the Doors.
Unfortunately... we were so soaked and cold we had to stop and stand under the overhang of a barn.
Fortunately...a wonderful woman and her 90 year old mother pulled over (in the middle of nowhere) and offered to take us back to our vehicle (driving 20 minutes out of their way)! We were very thankful for their kindness!
And fortunately....we felt good about riding another 12 kms toward my goal of 250 kms.
And fortunately...I have received SOOOO much support for this Great Cycle Challenge that it was all worthwhile!! Thank you!
From km 131 Confederation Trail to km 147 Confederation Trail
From Kensington (km 123 of the Confederation Trail) to Freetown (km 133 of the Trail)
I just raised $1,000 to fight kids' cancer and achieved WARRIOR LEVEL in the challenge! Thank you so much for your support.
Brian, my husband of 43 years, has peddled every kilometer with me on the Great Cycle Challenge - both last year and this.🩷
Just as the kids and families affected by cancer need support, so do the riders riding for them. Thanks to Brian for being there for me and thanks to YOU for your generous support. It truly makes a difference! We are all better together. 👫
