The wonderful benefits of rain are my thoughts today.
The restrictions on water use started on Monday in Calgary.
The gardens and wild spaces will benefit from moisture as September arrives,
My rain barrels and extra tubs will be full to use on my tomatoes and plants that need to be supported with water before winter freeze!
My Super Hero shirt is in transit since the donations from my many supporters put my total over $2500.
I've ordered a large size to fit over many layers. This size will also fit David so he will be my hero for supporting me to take time to ride and keep updating my GCC pages. There will be a photo on this site and FB so his support will be visible!
Hope this day gives you time for unique big or little delights!
Clouds coming and going gave me idea to climb long hill across the park from my house.
First I took a time to clip some dead plants and put them into green bin since truck hadn't emptied it yet.......procrastinating!
I did the climb and had a look at some new path views! Now there are 17.5 km closer to my 425 goal.
Slow start this morning on riding!
Yesterday I attended a Surprise party in St Alberta for my sister who is still a year younger than I am! The travels were over 6 hours, but my daughters drove and had steady conversation or car audio to entertain us. My family is spread around North America but I visited with some of the ones I haven't met before or not since my Mother's funeral in 2001.
Cancer has impacted my family at many ages but not yet in young children. So today i ride with thoughts of many and include all the ones who have generously joined my fundraising project. Thanks and off to the wheels!
Day has been a wildly busy day for me and then each time I looked at my phone i was smiling because people were busy donating to my ride site.
Thursday i will have a lot of thank you messages to send and then ride more and set a
NEW goal for funds!
Tuesday and Wednesday brought lots of rain.
Grandaughter, Linnea is here in Calgary for 7 days.
Her brother is with a cousin for now, but she is with me for 2 nights.
This morning she joined me on one of my other bikes since she is as tall as I am now.
the path led to our nearby Annie's Cafe in Fish Creek Park.
We explored the bridges, river, rocks, trees and birds. She had 2 treats because met a couple of friends and talked!
She may have wondered why I did some loops but cheerfulyl followed my route to add kilometres!
A phone call.
This one was special; an 81 year old friend wanted to talk to me and promise a donation to my ride!
I was volunteering in the gardens for Bow Valley Ranche Historical Society when my cell phone sounded in my back pack. I didn't recognize the number because Lynn and I use email a few times a year.
Now I know she is thinking of me in Victoria when there is a cool hour to be out in her garden and in my hour of riding I will think of her. My 20 km schedule usually takes an hour, so I use that time for thoughts of my supporters if I am riding alone.
Today's ride is starting soon because it is less than 29 C outside with a light breeze.
I started this month riding in the morning of what became a hot day.
There will be more hot ones and even some rainy ones.
I will show my ride photo on my facebook page today.
The 'please donate' email is being written today and maybe arriving in your box......
