12.4 km today. I just left the house and rode wherever. I enjoyed it and all the wildlife I get to see.
Today my son and I went on a small 7.53km ride. I realized at the halfway point that my app stopped tracking. For this ride I took my husbands bike out to see what difference it made riding a bit of a bigger bike with different types of gears and tires. And wow!!! Very surprised how nice it was. However I was missing my mirror and my cell phone holder so I started the app and put my cell phone in my pocket but I guess all the movement made the fabric rub up against it and it canceled the ride. Lucky enough I can use google maps to measure the distance of my ride so I could still track my kilometres.
This morning I rode 17.6 kms. I missed riding with my son and I did this one all on my own. The breeze was really nice and the views of all the farmers fields was beautiful.
Wow!! Tonight was an experience. My son and I rode 20 kms! That’s our longest ride ever. We left way to late in the day and the sun started to set. We decided not to turn back but continue on in a square type pattern to head home. Took a turn down an ATV trail in the forest at sunset was a tad scary, I was a bit worried we would meet up with a scary animal and was so relieved when we got to a main road. On our way up a very steep incline a deer came out onto the road and walked up the road for a bit in front of us and then went back into forest. On the ATV road we got to experience bike riding in thick sand! Not easy and tons of large rocks to avoid. I felt like we were 4x4 biking lol we had to keep kicking our foot out as we lost traction and slid sideways. We were giggling while saying I hope we don’t get eaten by a bear. It started to get super dark so we biked faster and then I said to my son oh no it’s bat hour and he replied what do you mean and then two bats swooped down and I said let’s bike as fast as we can. During the last incline to home the moon appeared and it was massive, it was orange in colour looked almost like the sun and you could easily see craters it was so breath taking we stopped for a short minute to take in the view. What an accomplishment today filled with so many firsts for both of us. I had a blast and can’t wait to bike with my son again but next time during lots of day light.
I just hit $1,000 to fight kids' cancer! Thank you so much for your support.
