Erika

Erika is my 21 year old daughter who was diagnosed with cancer in November 2015. We're celebrating that she's been "off treatment" since November 2016. She is an amazing, strong young lady who never lost the beautiful smile on her face throughout all her treatments. She went through 10 rounds of chemo, two stem cell transplants, two major surgeries and a few smaller ones. After all the tough times and health challenges, she has finished her fourth year of university at Trinity Western University where she is pursuing her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Her ultimate goal is to work at BC Children's Hospital on the oncology ward where she received most of her treatments and care. She is making great strides toward that as this summer, she will be working as an Employed Student Nurse at Children's on the same oncology ward where she hopes to once work. She calls herself a 3/4 nurse now. :-) Seeing her thrive and living life as she should makes me feel like the luckiest Mom alive. I will be riding for her and all the other kids affected by cancer because we speak from experience - it is not something any child or teen should have to deal with.
