My Story

This August, April and I will be taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? You see this amazing girl on this bike? Her name is April. She was diagnosed with Infant Leukemia in September of 2020. It's been a long and challenging journey for this little warrior princess.

Countless nights in the hospital, countless hiccups, and some dire situations were all part of our daily lives for the past 2 years... Sadly, we're not done yet [hopefully in September if everything goes well - ***knock on all the wood in the world] and we hope April will be an inspiration for all children and parents alike.

During this journey we met many children fighting for their lives and going through a similar journey that not many will ever understand. It's been difficult but we could not imagine going through this without the amazing care team from Sick Kids!

The Doctors, the nurses, the counsellors and even cleaning staff made a world of difference during this time there. It is for this very reason that April and I want to try and help give back to SickKids!

    The day of diagnosis is one of the most memorable days most oncology parents will have. In our case it was also day 1 of our hospital admittance. September 16 2020 was our day 1.

    SickKids took us under their wings and guided us through a very difficult and emotional time. We wouldn't be here without them. I truly hope our efforts can help SickKids help future families cope with their "Day 1". This is why we ride this August.

    Went for a family ride yesterday to get some medication at SickKids hospital and also paid a visit to one of April's favorite person in the world, Emilia!

    On the way home we passed by the Vietnamese festival that was going on by Nathan Phillips square and found this traditional Vietnamese cyclo and was thinking that it would be a great idea to use one of these for next year's ride 😊
