Emma

Emma was diagnosed with leukemia in March. She's 11. I was her mom's gr. 6 teacher: the same age Emma is. Even though I read the blog, I can't truly imagine what they're living with right now. This is a small way to support her and the other dozens of kids who have been diagnosed with cancer already this year.

My Story

This August, I am taking part AGAIN in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! This is Year 3 for me...

I've got a brand new bike, which will help me go zoom zoom.... and, although I haven't been on the bike much since the winter (eeep) I'm aiming for that 500 km sweet spot and would REALLY like to hit 750km.

And, as I do every year, I'm aiming to raise $2500.

Why ride? Over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, (this has gone up since I started) and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada. Three kids a week in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

In addition to much needed research, funds raised are also going to support teens with cancer. They are often caught between paediatric and adult centres. It's hard enough being a healthy teen! Teens4Teens is a pilot program, which provides support to these 'kids.'
