My Story

14 Apr 2019

This June, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why?

I ride in honour of my cousin's young warrior Jax who passed away this winter after a courageous fight with brain tumours. I ride in Jax's memory and in solidarity with all parents who endure such pain and anguish standing with their youngsters through the most difficult of circumstances. Candace and Geoff, there are strong arms around you! Jax, rest in peace little buddy!!

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

  • May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month
    2 May 2019

This is Jax. He was one of London's Courageous & Fearless Hero's. Throughout his life he was drawn to the Fire Department. He loved everything about it. Especially the people he knew within it.

His heart was full of love and you never saw him without a smile. His family was everything to him.

May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month and on Aug 2, 2010 he was Diagnosed with Medulloblastoma X2 (Brain Tumours). But as I said he was one of London's Courageous & Fearless Heroes. And he fought his Cancer in that way. Never giving up! Never taking that smile off his face. Always spreading the love in his heart.

Unfortunately on February 10, 2019 he could fight no longer and his family lost his love and his light. His funeral was somehow appropriately held on Valentines Day. A day reserved for showing ones love for another. And Jax only knew how to show his love. His love of his family. His love of his brothers & sisters at the London Fire Department. And his never ending love of life.

At his funeral his Fire Department friends did as they do and dropped to a knee and lowered their heads in respect and grief for their fallen brother?! Which was not expected, because Jax's Date of Birth was Nov 10, 2008.

No this is not the story of the Fire Fighter in the picture. It's the story of the boy sitting beside him, wearing the # 319 fire helmet.

May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month and Cancer doesn't care if you are just a child.

Why is Jax the hero in this picture and not the Fireman?

Because Jax is the one who showed and taught his Fire Fighting Brothers / Sisters (and the rest of us) how to be Courageous & Fearless Hero's.

May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month

You may have left us to soon but your light is still shining Bright!

    Rest in Peace Little Hero
