I'm Riding For
Jenny Vigliotti

Jenny lost her fight to cancer on April 5th, 2022. Jenny was diagnosed with cancer as a child and had to fight most of her life. If you knew Jenny, you were blessed. She was a person that lit up a room and cared so much for others. She adored her family especially her 3 beautiful children and her husband and her mom. I miss her everyday. This August, I will ride for my beautiful friend Jenny.
My Story
This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.

Blue Mountain Inn to Midland Day 2- on Great Waterfront Trail Adventure
8 Aug 2022Well we begin our ride this morning from the Blue Mountain Inn at 8:22 am. It had rained all night and was raining when we left. The signage was terrible especially this morning so we would start off following riders only to be told, we were going the wrong way. It did get better. The rain continued for much of the ride. We rode on the Georgian Trails along Wasaga Beach and at some points on the trail there was loose sand. I did fall off my bike when I hit the sand and it did scare me after that. Because of the rain, it was difficult to see because I wear glasses and they were always wet and would fog up. There was also very loose and wet sand on the trail and when we came to the 11 wooden bridges, I was just too nervous to ride on those wet bridges and it was pouring down rain at that time and I had trouble seeing. So I took the alternate route alone as Lucia wanted to ride the bridges. It worked out well and we met in Penetanguishene. It was a good ride despite the rain. God there are a lot of big hills in Midland.

Apple Pie Route to Thornbury - Day 1 on Great Waterfront Trail Adventure
7 Aug 2022Great first ride today. We rode 41.43 today on the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure. We arrived at Blue Mountain Inn this morning at 10:00. We registered and then got ready to ride. Today was a short ride on the Apple Pie Route. A view big hills on gravel terrain and rode mostly on the Georgian Trail. We rode to Spy Cider House & Distillery and had a flight of their cider and their famous wood burning pizza. It was a good ride. Tomorrow we ride to Midland for 86 km. We will leave at 8:30 am.
Supposed to rain tomorrow with thunder storms.

Seen 5 bear cubs on Day 4
5 Aug 2022DAY 4 ride began with thick fog in the morning. This was another solo ride to Kemble. Headed to Grey Rd 17 just past Copper Kettle. Down the road in front of me were 2 baby bear cubs crossing the road. At that moment, 3 cyclists came up from behind and we all seen 3 more baby bear cubs crossing the road. Momma bear was not in sight. The 3 cyclists questioned what they should do and I suggested that we all ride fast past where we seen the cubs cross and we make lots of noise. I never did see momma bear. It was a good ride this morning. Traffic was heavier and therefore I did not feel that I should stop on the side of the rod to drink. I just kept riding until I got to the Women's Institute and I stopped to have a good drink and a granola bar. It was a good ride. I had Jenny with me on this ride. My goal was to do 50 k and I did it. Tomorrow is my rest day and packing day.

A solo ride on Day 3 to Kemble
4 Aug 2022Great ride to Kemble. This seems to be my favorite route. It comes with some good challenging hills, some head wind, a bicycle paved path on much of the busy roads and the best part, is it comes with nature. This morning, a fox walked out in front of me, stared at me right in the eyes and then walked away. My goal was to ride 45 k but then when I got back to Owen Sound, I thought I have enough energy to ride 50 today and I carried on to Harrison Park and the total ride was 51.2 kms. I feel so good about that.
