This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

For the past couple of years, I've been joining cycling challenges (on mountain bike trails) in support of a cause that matters deeply to me. Last year I rode for youth in care, the year before I rode for LGBTQ+, and this year I'm riding for kids with cancer. My grandfather, Jim, died of liver cancer in his early 70s due to alcoholism in his younger years. Although he was not a child when he died, his alcohol abuse was related to childhood trauma. Trauma has been described as cancer that targets mental health, branching out into life choices, and metamorphosing into physical destruction. This year I ride for kids with cancer, as well as Grandpa Jim, whose cancer really began when he was a kid.
